First popularized and recommended as a distinct type of cloud in 2009 and added to the International Cloud Atlas in 2017, the Asperitas Cloud is the first new classification since 1951. This very rare formation looks like waves seen from beneath the surface of water but to my mind also resembles cloud patterns seen on the gas giants of our solar system, such as Jupiter. The processing on this version is more subdued (and thus more closely approximating what the eye saw) than in the earlier version I posted several days ago.
